INTRODUCTION to PPAP

Initially PPAP developed by AIAG (Automotive Industry Action Group) in 1993 by taking an input from – FORD, CHRYSLER, AND GM. AIAG’S 2006 is the most recent version and its forth edition. Now a days PPAP has spread to many industries beyond the automotive.


Purpose of the PPAP
As the customer provided the documents and required specification through PPAP the manufacturer confirms-

  •  We have understood the requirement properly.
  •   Process has the potential to produced product consistently meeting the requirements during an actual production run at the quoted production rate.

        PPAP Submission levels  

LEVEL 1

Production warrant and appearance record

LEVEL 2

Production warrant, Product samples, and Dimensional results

LEVEL 3

Production warrant, Product samples, and complete supporting data

LEVEL 4

Production warrant, and other requirements by customer

LEVEL 5

Production warrant, Product samples, and complete supporting data(review will be conducted at the supplier ‘s manufacturing location)
